Les Mondes Engloutis -- Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea May. 5th, 2005 @ 01:27 pm

_spartakus and shagma are both about this cartoon.

There are many websites in several languages: http://tehrig.tripod.com , http://shagmir.free.fr , http://www.elsullyedtvilagok.tk (letöltések means "downloads"), http://membres.lycos.fr/terid2/ , http://people.ucsc.edu/~jeremys ...these pages have more links, and if you're interested, I can collect a longer list of links here.
If you have eMule, I think you can download the episodes from http://bleyna.free.fr/pages/episodes/mondesengloutis.php .
There are also two Yahoo! groups: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tehra/ in English and http://ar.groups.yahoo.com/group/espartaco2/ in Spanish.

http://www.absoluteanime.com/spartakus/ says Les Mondes Engloutis is a French/Japanese cartoon, but http://shagmir.free.fr/4_docs/presse/argonaute.htm calls it "100 % français". (BTW, I think the Absolute Anime summary is a bit inaccurate.) I've been wondering: is LME an anime, and if not, then why is it sometimes classified as one?

Also, do any of you know other cartoons where people of such very different ages treat each other as equals? (Well, the equality in LME is not complete, but I greatly appreciate even this much.)

Many thanks in advance,
Kletta

Hiya! I'm new to this group, and sorry I haven't posted in ages...

Anyway, there's something that's brewing in my mind about a series I truly liked as a child: Clémentine. Has anyone heard of it? Rumour is that it's a French/Japanese coproduction. I dunno whether it's true or not. I can't really get the theme out of my head, even if it's childish *lol*...

Anyway, I'd really like to know. Thanks!

Hi guys :) This is the maintainer, nikodemus, but I'm posting under my new username. I just thought I'd let you know that I haven't forgotten about the place, I'm just at a bit of a loss as to what to do with it! If you have any ideas then please do let me know, I'd love to be able to get the place a bit more active.

Thanks everyone :}

This is way off-topic, but I feel it's vital to get the word out, so I'm cross-posting this link everywhere. Just delete it and bitchslap me if it's not welcome.

» Apollo info?
Finally, a community of people that will nod with understanding when I ramble about flying golden bird machines and scrawny spanish kids with bling-bling!

And maybe someone who has some information on the band Apollo, who performed the mcog theme song (and those catchy character themes for Tao and Zia). I've not found mention of them anywhere except the soundtrack, and am curious.

I'd also like to draw your attention to the Yelo Molo cover, because every fan enjoys hearing their favourite theme song performed by a francophone ska band. If you haven't heard it, you can get an mp3 from lescitesdor.com.
» Ulysses31 DVD Release
Some information on possible release dates on the Ulysses31 DVDs within the UK from the Ulysses31 Yahoo! Groups. They're being released by Contender Limited Independent Video Distribution.

A friend contacted them about the new release, and they responded with the following information:Collapse )

Thanks for the information, Dean!
» New Ulysses31 action figures
There were some original figures made for the series back in the 80s, but nothing too amazing. Recently, with the release of the DVDs there seems to have been renewed interest in the series, and a new Ulysses figure has been created. NoNo has also been made, and apparently there are also plans to make figures of Telemachus and Yumi (but no Numinor!) if they can find a distributor. The figures will most likely only be released in France (but I won't let that stop me getting hold of one!) The NoNo figures created were limited to 120 figures, and have all been sold!

» First post! Whee!
I was just doing an interest search for "80s cartoons", looking to see if I might come across a community dedicated to The Mysterious Cities of Gold. I was a Nickelodeon junkie during the first ten years that network aired, and that is still my favorite animated series. When I came across this community journal, the first thought that hit me was that a community about French-Japanese animation collabs had to be about or include tMCoG.

Needless to say, I absolutely had to join. franco_japonais looks like something right up my alley.

Now, a question. Do you remember the old series Belle & Sebastian? It aired roughly about the time that Mysterious Cities of Gold did, and I can vaguely recall that the artwork was not very dissimilar. Was it also a French-Japanese collab?
